Monday...with Yellow Canvas Beauty

This is the second of four posts showing some of the process and images I shot for Australian based Canvas Beauty who asked me to create some unique table photographs for them...

I had so many shasta daisies over the Summer that I decided to work on two yellow themes...

As the daisies are bold, I tried to soften them with honeysuckle, ferns, marjoram, fennel and seeds whilst reflecting the yellow centres with the lemons...

As Canvas use loads of natural products I wanted to include at least a few edible and aromatic flowers too...

( although these beautiful hand made wooden boxes used for storing oils smelled amazing anyway! )

As Canvas is based in Australia I found a couple of vintage maps to include in the composition...

Tuesday...

...words don't seem to be doing me any favours today, so it's just pictures...😉

Friday...

I'm working away from home this week but I have managed to walk and collect...

I tipped out these leaves straight on to the table here and nearly didn't arrange them at all...

...but then obviously couldn't resist!

Yesterday was trickier as there was no natural wood to be seen, so this was my only available table top...

...I'll be back in the garden very soon though!

Thursday...

The garden is completely changing at the moment...there are very few flowers left although the nasturtiums are still amazing, and the californian poppies are still going but with very small flowers.

There are buds on the dahlia and perennial wallflowers, but on the whole the abundance of summer flowers has gone...

So I’ve been looking further afield for the Autumnal colour today, and as everything seems to fall during Autumn there is loads just to pick up off the ground at the moment... or even have a quick snip at!

I picked the last substantial haul of my blackberries yesterday ( and my son then polished them off after school when I wasn’t looking...)

I picked some of the Oxalis from the kitchen windowsill and one chocolate cosmos to reflect the purples from the blackberries...as well as the last of the field scabious

I bought this wild geranium in August as I really remember it from a house I lived in when I was little and so used a few of the flowers...

 but left these poppy seed heads for another time... 

The blackberries have left their mark on the table which I sort of reckon is all part of this time of year...

...but out today on the bike I found conkers, firethorn berries, spindleberry, crab apples, rosehips, leaves and elderberries...

added some physalis, sedum and nasturtium ( from the garden ), grapes, and coffee, as well as an old orange-painted key from the house I mentioned before ( it’s one of my favorite keys... )

...actually the coffee hadn’t quite made it from the cafitiere at this point!

Italy ( part 4 )...with Yellows and Greens

There were other days on our trip when it was raining...so we did decide to go on one more excursion to Sirmione...

To be honest it was packed, so after making our way through busy back streets we had lunch and then took the ferry straight back!

But, there was a fresh fruit stall there where I bought a massive lemon ( although by no means the largest I saw during our stay ) which smelled amazing...

I love the colours of buildings in Italy, and although it was raining, the yellow of this hotel in Salò still stood out...

We were being careful not to do too much, so in keeping with our plan to relax, when we got back to the hotel and the sun had come out...for the first time in my life I actually sun bathed by the pool!
